Traci Braxton, sister to Toni Braxton, has passed away at the age of 50 after suffering from Esophageal cancer.
News broke early Saturday morning that Traci lost her battle with the disease. Traci was quietly dealing with cancer for over a year. According to TMZ, Traci’s sisters Toni, Tamar, Towanda, Trina, and their mother were by her side when she passed.
Traci’s son Kevin, took to Instagram to share heartfelt words for his mother. In a post showing a picture of him hugging his mom, Kevin wrote, “When I heard the news about my mother being sick, first thing she said was I’m going to fight and beat this. She fought to the end and today she’s at peace. I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore. I love you ma I’m going to miss you.”
Traci’s husband, Kevin Surratt, spoke with TMZ and spoke on Braxton’s passing. “We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory.”
Toni Braxton broke her silence on the passing of her sister on Instagram. “It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly. Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake.”
Traci was a part of the family’s reality show “Braxton Family Values” which she shared with her sisters and her mother. Traci was also an actress, best known for her role in “Sinners Wanted.” In addition to her acting career, Traci was a singer like her sisters recording her hit “Last Call” which was #16 on Billboard Hot 100.
