The Houston rapper had been searching for his 6-year-old daughter, Truth, for months, and the long-awaited reunion finally occurred after a significant breakthrough. Trae confirmed the news to TMZ Hip Hop that on New Year’s Day, he received an early morning call informing him that his Truth’s mother, Heather Cuevas, had been arrested in El Centro, California, on child endangerment charges related to the missing minor.

This arrest led Trae directly to his daughter. Immediately, he flew from Texas to San Diego and drove over 100 miles to a small town near the U.S.-Mexico border, where he was finally reunited with the little girl. According to the 44-year-old, his ex will soon face extradition to Texas.

The touching moment was documented on Instagram. In a video, Trae is seen welcoming his daughter who walks into a room after months away from him. In another shot, the two are all smiles as they head to the awaiting vehicle.

Trae, who was granted full custody of his daughter, previously reported that Truth had gone missing in August after a visit with her mother that was supposed to last two days. He claimed that his ex never returned her and had been moving the child between different homes, with help from a grandmother and others.

In his search, Trae enlisted the help of the Black and Missing Foundation and a private investigator, who eventually tracked Cuevas California. Now that he’s been reunited with his daughter, Trae expressed his emotions, saying he plans to take things one day at a time.
