Damian Lillard knows the power of his words, so he’s using them to spread awareness. The Portland point guard debuted a brand new video titled “Bigger Than Us,” just in time for Martin Luther King day.
Lillard, who goes by the stage name “Dame D.O.L.L.A,” used this video to discuss race relations and social injustice. “It touches on a lot of things that are going on around us, stuff that affects everybody,” Lillard explained. “Whether that’s positive or negative, however you want to look at it. It just kind of raises awareness, let’s us know that it’s right there in our faces happening. It’s only facts. It’s not disrespectful. It’s not overly aggressive. It’s just facts.”
The video begins with news footage from Ferguson, MO as Mike Brown protestors and police officers face off.
