Travis Scott is showing love to Planned Parenthood and the residents of Alabama by donating all of the proceeds from his Hangout Fest show in the wake of the new Alabama and Missouri laws that ban abortion in almost all circumstances.
“I wanna just donate my net profits from our merch today to Planned Parenthood…I love y’all, and I just want everyone to know that love is the strongest thing we can have,” Scott said during his set, before performing SZA’s “Love Galore.”
So far this year, eight states have passed bills to limit or ban abortions, and celebrities such as Rihanna, John Legend, Janelle Monae and Lady Gaga have recently spoken out against the bill and women’s rights.
Planned Parenthood is the country’s largest chain of abortion clinics, and approximately 80% of its facilities are located in minority or low-income neighborhoods. However, Planned Parenthood also has a long and well-documented history of racism, more specifically from its founder Margaret Sanger. According to America Today, a black child is three times more likely to be killed in the womb than white children, and since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25%.
