Travis Scott is Giving Away $1 Million in Scholarships to HBCU Students for Second Year in a Row

Travis Scott is continuing his string of good deeds, announcing that his foundation will give away $1 million in scholarships to 100 HBCU students nationwide.

Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation, in collaboration with his Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund, will grant $10,000 to Black students facing financial hardships in their college years. All recipients must have a 3.5 or higher GPA to qualify for the funds, which will be distributed across 38 different schools, including Florida A&M University, Jackson State, Alabama A&M University, Central State University, Morehouse College, Texas Southern, and Prairie View A&M University.

“Excellence abounds in every Black household, but too often opportunity does not – and Black students are left behind or counted out,” Scott said of the effort, which is now in its second year.

Jordan Massey of North Carolina Central University is among the recipients of the money. She says the funds will allow her to pay off student debt and alleviate the stress felt by herself and her family, who have supported her.

“It’s been a very taxing four years, so this is much appreciated,” she stated in a video thanking the “Rodeo” rapper.

Travis Scott is no stranger to helping his people in trying situations, even when his efforts are not received well. In March, he launched “Project HEAL,” a $5 million initiative to assist at-risk communities.
