Houston rapper, Travis Scott, has been announced as the official curator for the NBA 2K19 soundtrack and will be appearing as himself in the game.
The basketball video game is set to debut on September 7 with a familiar face gracing the cover, LeBron James. The new Los Angeles Lakers forward-guard sat with Scott to discuss what it means to be a part of such a huge project.
“I was in the zone of greatness, to be aligned with people like yourself [speaking about James],” the “Astroworld” rapper said. “I wanted to curate the best music and give my city a sound.”
As a frequent player of the video game, and now apart of the franchise as it celebrates its 20th anniversary, Scott is pleased to be on the forefront of communities to inspire others.

Since one of the slogan’s for 2K19 is “they will know your name,” James asked the “Antidote” rapper how it might apply to him. Scott dedicated the slogan to his album title, “Astroworld.”

“Astroworld is actually a place that was torn down. They tried to take the name away from the city, they tried to take the amusement park, the fun away,” he explained, “So I wanted to make sure I put it on the front page of everything I’m doing so they could remember that name, my name, just the city of Houston.”
