Travis Scott is slowly inching his way back into music.
On Friday, Travis released his first single following the Astroworld tragedy called ‘Hold That Heat.’ The track features some lyrics from Future and is produced by Southside.
Travis’s new song comes just a few months after being featured on Kanye West’s ‘Pablo’ from his Donda 2 album.
Travis has been keeping a low profile since the tragic Astroworld incident. If you’re not aware, in November 2021, Travis curated a festival in Houston titled after his album. The festival was going well until a crowd surge began. Unfortunately, ten concertgoers were killed, including a 9-year-old boy.
Following the incident, Travis offered to pay for the victim’s funeral. However, many of the families declined his offer.
“I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse,” the young victim’s lawyer said. “His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy.”
Later, Travis launched several philanthropic initiatives, including a safety task event called Project HEAL. The Houston rapper says he’s taking time to “grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community.”
Project HEAL is a four-tiered project that includes scholarships for HBCU students, mental health resources for underprivileged youth, etc.
“Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change. This will be a lifelong journey for me and my family,” he said in an Instagram post.
