After Hot 97’s Ebro Darden and Nessa called out Travis Scott for lying about an alleged consultation with Colin Kaepernick over his decision to perform in the Super Bowl, sources close to the “SICKO MODE” rapper are officially clearing the air.
According to TMZ, while the two did have a conversation, as confirmed by both parties, the conversation happened before Scott signed on to do the show.
Sources connected to Scott say although the rapper had not signed the contract to perform, he’d already made the decision to do so. However, he still reached out to Kaepernick to get him on board with it.
Although Kaepernick was not supportive of Scott’s decision, the rapper’s sources said the conversation was “cordial and not hostile.” After that, Scott went on to sign the contract, which included the $500,000 donation to Van Jones’ charity, Dream Corps.
But, at the end of the day, according to Scott sources, although the rapper respects the quarterback turned activist, “Colin doesn’t tell Travis what he can and can’t do. That’s Travis’ decision.”
