Travis Scott is making headlines again.

An artist named Mickaël Mehala aka Black Childish is suing the rapper over his 2016 cover art for the Travis La Flame compilation album. The album features tracks from Scott’s Days Before Rodeo mixtape. In the artwork, the rapper is depicted as a centaur in the desert.

Childish claims he actually created the piece in 2015 and sent it to Scott via Instagram in 2016, the year his album dropped. However, he never got a response from the Houston rapper.

TMZ obtained legal docs saying Childish filed for copyright over the album art in February 2019. He also claims that he tried to get into contact with Scott and his management team multiple times. After finally hearing back in summer 2019, he said Scott’s attorney claimed that he was unaware he used someone else’s art.

Though the artwork has been removed from platforms, Childish is suing for hundreds of thousands of dollars and sole authority of his artwork that he dm’d the “STARGAZING” rapper.

In response to the suit, Scott’s attorney told TMZ, “This is a frivolous and baseless filing which will almost certainly be thrown out once it has its day in court. Anyone with access to the internet could tell you that Travis never released an album named ‘La Flame.’”

He continues, “The illustration in question was fan-made and was uploaded to streaming services by fans, something any user has the option of doing. Streaming services quickly removed it after realizing people were trying to pass this off as a real album cover. We look forward to dismissing this case entirely.”
