Travis Scott is now compelled to stand a jury trial concerning the multiple lawsuits stemming from the Astroworld Festival tragedy.

Billboard reports that Judge Kristen Hawkins has said that Scott cannot sidestep the trial despite prior claims from his legal team arguing his lack of legal responsibility.

Daniel Petrocelli, Scott’s attorney, emphasized that performers like Scott should not bear the burden of concert safety measures, venue security, or site design.

Petrocelli likened music festivals to other adrenaline-inducing activities, explaining that performers lack the specialized knowledge required for ensuring safety.

“Like any other adrenaline-inducing diversion, music festivals must balance exhilaration with safety and security—but that balance is not the job of performing artists, even those involved in promoting and marketing performances,” stated Scott’s attorney.

“Which only makes sense: Performing artists, even those who engage in certain promotional activities, have no inherent expertise or specialized knowledge in concert safety measures, venue security protocols, or site-design.”

The rapper faces lawsuits from over 2500 individuals, including families of those who perished during the event. While artists like Drake have been under scrutiny, Drake successfully petitioned for dismissal from the case.

Now, Scott must navigate the legal process, which could be prolonged due to the class action nature of the lawsuit. The outcome remains uncertain, with only time revealing the implications of this trial.
