Trevor Noah Expresses His Gratitude To Black Women During His Emotional Farewell To “The Daily Show”: “I’m Grateful To Every Single One Of You” [Video]

Trevor Noah gives praises to black women during his emotional farewell to “The Daily Show.”

On Thursday, the host gave “a shoutout to black women” during an emotional send-off. If you’re not aware, Trevor hosted “The Daily Show” for seven years after taking over for the longtime host Jon Stewart in 2015.

“I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas. People say, ‘Oh Trevor, you’re so smart.’ I’m like, ‘Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think shaped me, nourished me and formed me?” Trevor said. “From my mom, my grand[mom], my aunt, all these Black women in my life, but in America as well.”

He also thanked writers and professors Roxane Gay, Tressie McMillan Cottom as well as activists Zoé Samudzi and Tarana Burke, for their brilliance and educating him.

“Black people understand how hard it is when things go bad, especially in America … When things go bad, Black people know that it’s worse for them,” Trevor added.

He continued, “Do yourself a favor, if you truly want to know what to do or how to do it? Or maybe the best way or the most equitable way? Talk to Black women. They’re a lot of the reason why I’m here and so I’m grateful to them. I’m grateful to every single one of you.”

“The Daily Show” is a political and current events satire that is shown on Comedy Central. The hour-long show consists of the host and correspondents delivering the news, often with humor.

Since Trevor snagged the hosting chair, he has welcomed plenty of correspondents including Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Roy Wood Jr., and Dulcé Sloan. In addition, Trevor secured six Emmy nominations and one win since taking over as the host.
