Trey Songz is under investigation after a violent encounter was reported outside a New York nightclub left a photographer hospitalized.
While police say the singer attacked the man, Trey’s legal team is pushing back and calling the media coverage misleading.
The incident happened early Monday, just after Trey’s performance at The Ivy in Huntington.
According to police, he allegedly struck photographer Isaa Mansoor in the head, slammed him into a wall, and damaged two cameras before leaving the scene. Mansoor, who was already recovering from an injury, was later hospitalized with a concussion and additional trauma.
Witnesses say the club owner tried to step in, but Trey wasn’t responsive. The photographer’s equipment was reportedly destroyed during the confrontation.
Trey has not addressed the situation directly, but his attorney, Ted Anastasiou, issued a strong statement criticizing the media.
“The media is unfairly turning an unfinished story into clickbait to sell a new headline. That’s lazy and unfair,” he told TMZ.
Anastasiou said the entire situation stemmed from “increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space,” which he claimed is becoming a safety risk. He added that Trey is fully cooperating with law enforcement and “disputes the characterization of events,” asking the public to wait for the full facts before drawing conclusions.
This is not the first time Trey’s behavior has made headlines. Just last month, he was caught on video threatening to fight another man at a public event. Although that moment didn’t turn physical, it raised concern over his conduct in high-pressure situations.
No charges have been filed yet, and the case remains open while authorities review the evidence and statements from both parties.
