The first case of triphallia, a condition in which a person is born with three penises, has been reported in human beings.
According to an International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, a three-month-old from Duhok was initially taken to the hospital for suspected scrotum swelling.
The report states that two additional were spotted. One was attached to the root of the penis, while the other was below the scrotum. Neither of the penises had a urethra.
Both of the supernumerary penises were removed and handled by a urologist with great knowledge in urosurgery and penile reconstruction surgery.
The baby was discharged from the hospital without any issues but is expected to have future appointments over the next year to ensure no complications.
