Tristan Thompson is now the official guardian of his younger brother Amari, as approved by the court.
New legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the ruling came in on Monday, approximately five months after Tristan initially filed a petition to become his little brother’s guardian.
Thompson has been looking after his brother since their mother’s sudden passing in Toronto.
In his initial request, Tristan mentioned that their father, Trevor, had been absent from Amari’s life. As the closest family member, Tristan stepped in to care for his brother, who was diagnosed with epilepsy.
According to reports, Amari is inheriting $103,475 from his mother’s estate, and Tristan, as previously stated in his petition, pledged to protect the money and ensure Amari’s well-being.
