Tristan Thompson’s ongoing case against Kimberly Alexander, who earlier claimed that the NBA player was the father of her kid, has been awarded a default judgment.
In May 2020, Thompson wrote Alexander a cease and desist letter for allegedly uttering “malicious, defamatory lies and fallacious fabrications” about her child’s paternity. Thompson launched a libel claim against Alexander later that month.
Thompson was awarded a default judgment of $52,901.75 in the libel action on Tuesday, which includes $50,000 in general damages and $2,901.95 in expenses. On July 26, the formal ruling is scheduled to be issued.
According to the records, Thompson “contends DNA test findings revealed he is not the father” of Alexander’s child. True, his 3-year-old daughter with ex-Khloé Kardashian, and Prince, his 4-year-old son with ex Jordan Craig, are the two children of the Boston Celtics player.
According to court filings, Alexander, whom legal counsel did not represent, reacted to the announcement of the judgment on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, claiming that it was not final.
“Um, why are people jumping for joy when it’s obviously another court date,” she wrote before referencing Thompson’s recent split from Kardashian and the rumors that he cheated on her again. “Oh, maybe cause of cheating rumors, they got excited to post it on tmz.”
Alexander is a “wannabe social media influencer and pornographic model/performer who is so desperate to achieve her fifteen minutes of fame that she recently fabricated a false claim that NBA star/Cleveland Cavaliers center/power forward Thompson is the father of her nearly five-year-old son,” according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Singer additionally claimed that Alexander “persisted in publicly proclaiming that Thompson is her child’s father” and “maliciously accused Thompson of being a deadbeat dad, ‘neglecting’ and failing to take financial responsibility for the child since birth.” The lawyer subsequently referred to the accusations as “absolutely false” and “defamatory.”
The lawsuit news follows Thompson’s split from Kardashian, confirmed by a source to PEOPLE on Tuesday. Thompson’s previous adultery problems had caused the couple to break up multiple times.
“They are not together right now,” the source said. “The ups and downs with Tristan were always very frustrating for Khloé. She has worked so hard to trust Tristan.”
Another source claims that Khloe and Tristan “are trying to be on good terms,” noting, “Khloé will do what’s best for True.”
