Tristan Thompson will be leaving California to pursue a $19 million deal with the Boston Celtics in Massachusetts, and according to sources, “Tristan is not going to let his zip code determine his relationship with Khloe.”
Sources tell Hollywoodlife that “He’s adamant that he will continue to fight for her and he will continue to spend all the time he possibly can with her and True,” our source explains. “He’s excited about the idea of playing again, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy to be away from Khloe and True. Having all this time together has been such a blessing. He will definitely miss them. But he’s vowed not to let the distance change anything.”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tristan hasn’t seen a court since the NBA suspended the 2019-2020 season in march. His old team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, were also not selected to return when the season resumed back in July. This has given Tristan time to spend months of quality time with Khloe and True, which he doesn’t want to end. The source claims that “Tristan wants to be near Khloe and wants to be near True, he really wants to make it work.”
However, Tristan is feeling optimistic about moving to Boston. “He also knows that he was able to make it work in Cleveland. Now choosing Boston to play for the next few years, he is looking to win another championship, he is also looking to get paid well, and since this is his job that won’t last forever, he needs to do what he needs to do to secure his future which will, in turn, secure a future for True and hopefully Khloe.”
When it comes to where their relationship stands, Hollywoodlife’s second source says that “he would love nothing more than to have Khloe in his life forever both romantically and as a co-parent,” but Tristan is ready for any outcome. “If a relationship doesn’t end up being the situation,” then “he must be able to support his dreams as well,” the source explains, who adds, “Choosing Boston was a business decision but also a decision for the quality of life that Tristan wants in his future with or without Khloe by his side. He ultimately had to do what was best for him.”
Kim and Rob Kardashian took to social media to celebrate Tristan’s new deal with the Boston Celtics, which was announced on Nov. 21 by his agent. News of Tristan’s career move also comes after he revealed that he wishes to get back together with Khloe on the Nov. 12 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
