Brian Laundrie‘s cause of death has been revealed.
A family attorney announced Tuesday that the 23-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the head and his manner of death was a suicide.
“Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide,” said attorney Steven Bertolino.
This news comes a little over a month after Laundrie’s “skeletal” remains were found in a Florida natural reserve. The remains were discovered along with a backpack and notebook in an area that was previously underwater on October 20.
Laundrie was previously named a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancee, Gabby Petito. The couple was on a cross-country road trip together documenting their adventures online prior to Petito going missing and Laundrie returning home without her on September 1. Weeks later, Petito’s body was found in a Wyoming national park. Her death was ruled a homicide and the manner of death was manual strangulation.
