Former President Donald Trump has confirmed his participation in a Fox News debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. The highly anticipated face-off is scheduled for September 4 in Pennsylvania, though the exact location has yet to be finalized. Trump made the announcement via his social media platform, Truth Social, mentioning that the debate will be moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Unlike a previous CNN debate, which featured no audience, this event will include spectators.
Initially, Trump was slated to debate President Joe Biden on ABC News, but that event was canceled after Biden suspended his re-election campaign. The former president explained that his ongoing lawsuit against ABC and George Stephanopoulos led to a “conflict of interest,” thus canceling the debate.
With Biden out of the race, Harris secured enough delegates to become the Democratic Party’s nominee, paving the way for her to debate Trump. Harris had previously expressed her readiness to face Trump and accused him of avoiding the earlier ABC debate. Now, with the stage set, the two are poised to discuss and debate the future of America.
Trump criticized the Democratic Party’s decision to replace Biden with Harris, calling it an unprecedented move and a “Threat to Democracy.” However, he emphasized his readiness to debate the new candidate and address what he views as flawed policies.
The debate comes just before the start of early voting on September 6 for the 2024 Presidential Election, setting the stage for a pivotal moment in the campaign. Both candidates are preparing to lay out their visions for the country’s future, promising a debate that voters won’t want to miss.
