Welp, that’s another one down on Team Trump.
Roger Stone was a proud advisor and self-proclaimed “dirty trickster” for Trump during his time in the White House. But now, it’s been reported that one of his tricks of lying to investigators about Russian interference in the 2016 elections has come to bite him in the butt.
Stone was barely out of bed before FBI agents were slapping cuffs on his wrists Friday morning. Robert Muller announced the charges against Stone included obstruction and witness tampering. This all goes back to the WikiLeaks’ plan to publicize the damaging deleted emails that affected Hilary Clinton’s campaign. Prosecutors said Stone was the middle man by communicating with an unnamed senior official about disclosing the Russian intelligence service hack. They alleged he lied by concealing emails the House of Intelligence requested during the investigation. Of course, good old “Tricky” probably thought he had a friend to call on in the White House. But that’s a big, fat negative!
Press Secretary Sarah Sanders made it loud and clear that the White House wants zero to do with the case. Regardless of it being directly linked to “45,” it was stated to “have nothing to do with the president.”
Stone joins the despicable ranks of Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulos, and many others. His first court appearance is in Florida.
