There are calls for Trump campaign attorney Joe diGenova to be disbarred after calling for violence against a former cybersecurity official fired for saying the election was secure.
During his appearance on The Howie Carr Show, diGenova said, “Anybody who thinks the election went well, like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity. That guy is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot.”
Chris Krebs, the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, was fired by Donald Trump on November 17. He was fired over the agency’s Rumor Control blog, which disputed election fraud and hacking claims.
In a statement distributed through the Trump campaign a day later, diGenova tried to downplay his comments as “sarcastic and made in jest.”
In an interview with the Today show, Krebs suggested that he may take legal action against diGenova, calling his comments dangerous. Krebs said that his attorneys are looking at their “available options.”
