Donald Trump’s loyal supporters did not take too kindly to jokes made by Amy Schumer at a recent comedy show in Tampa, FL.
Nearly 200 people walked out of the Amalie Arena Sunday after Amy Schumer mocked Donald Trump and called him an “orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster.”
The animosity started about halfway through the show when a small group began booing loudly as Schumer’s humor browsed the topics of gun control and the presidential election. At one point she asked for a Trump supporter to join her on stage and explain why they were voting for the presidential candidate. One gentleman did, and said he was voting for Trump because he doesn’t trust Hillary Clinton.
As more pro-Trump hecklers began to boo, Schumer invited security to escort them out.
“I don’t want to hear that. We wanted to have a good night without distractions with the politics,” one attendee told Tampa Bay Times. “It’s a bit much,” echoed his wife.
“The show became political. I definitely didn’t come to hear this,” said another attendee.
The sentiment for most of those who walked out is that the political dialogue went on much too long.
Schumer, who’s been quite vocal about politics before, told Vanity Fair, “I loved the crowd and my show in Tampa last night! I want to thank the 8400 people who stayed. We had a great time! We have always depended on comedians to make us laugh and tell the truth. I am proud to continue that tradition.”
