More than 300,000 Donald Trump fans have responded to a virtual “second inauguration” that is scheduled to take place on January 20, the same day Joe Biden will be sworn in as president.
Ilir Chami and Evi Kokalari organized the Facebook event, which describes the event as “a grassroots collection of private individuals 325,000 strong, showing our support for President Donald J. Trump. We have no affiliation with any formal organization.” More than 60,000 people have responded that they are going to attend.
Every post in the event has been appended with Facebook’s disclaimer that “Joe Biden is the President-elect. He will be inaugurated as the 46th US President on January 20, 2021.”
Trump remains unwilling to concede the race to Biden, even though the Electoral College has certified the election results.
