Former President Donald Trump has made headlines once again, this time with a rather unconventional idea. Over the weekend, Trump suggested creating a migrant fighting league to rival the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Describing migrants as “tough” and “mean,” he shared this thought during speeches at two different events on Saturday.
In Washington, D.C., Trump spoke at the Faith and Freedom Coalition gathering of Christian conservatives, where he first floated the idea. “These people are tough. They’re so tough,” Trump stated, emphasizing the resilience of migrants. Later, at a rally in Philadelphia, he repeated the notion, recalling a conversation he had with UFC President Dana White.
“I said, ‘Dana, I have an idea for you to make a lot of money. You’re going to go and start a new migrant fight league, only migrants,’” Trump recounted. He even envisioned a scenario where the migrant league champion could face off against the UFC champion. “I think the migrant guy might win, that’s how tough they are. He didn’t like that idea too much, but actually, it’s not the worst idea I’ve had,” Trump added with a chuckle.
Audience members at both events found humor in Trump’s proposal, with laughter echoing through the venues.
Confirming the conversation, Dana White addressed the media during the UFC Saudi Arabia post-fight press conference, clarifying that Trump’s suggestion was meant in jest. “It was a joke. It was a joke,” White reiterated, acknowledging the online buzz the comments had generated.
