As a fellow Georgia resident, Donald Trump, leave us alone!
On Saturday, the celebrity-in-chief called the Republican Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, to persuade him to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college win, CNN reports.
According to the source who spoke with the outlet, Trump called on the governor to urge him to schedule a special session to convince Georgia legislators to select electors that would be in his favor. He then requested Kemp to order an audit of the state’s absentee ballot signatures.
Trump isn’t backing down, and it will be interesting to see what his next tactics will be now that Kemp has told him he does not have the powers to order an audit, while also denying Trump’s request of calling a special session.
Apparently, Trump wasn’t happy about it. His Saturday tweet attacking Kemp proves it. Included in his Twitter-finger rant, he included Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in his verbal assault and still insisted that there be an audit of the absentee ballots.
I will easily & quickly win Georgia if Governor @BrianKempGA or the Secretary of State permit a simple signature verification. Has not been done and will show large scale discrepancies. Why are these two “Republicans” saying no? If we win Georgia, everything else falls in place!

But you never got the signature verification! Your people are refusing to do what you ask. What are they hiding? At least immediately ask for a Special Session of the Legislature. That you can easily, and immediately, do. #Transparency https://t.co/h73ZfjrDt3

If that wasn’t enough, he once again continued to make false and misleading claims pertaining to the potential process. Kemp responded to Trump’s cyberbullying by saying he has “publicly called for a signature audit three times,” which is why Trump has resorted to his request of a special session of the state’s legislature.
Cody Hall, a spokesman for Kemp, did admit that Trump and the governor spoke but only acknowledged that Trump sent his condolences on the death of Harrison Deal, a campaign staffer for Kelly Loeffler.
Earlier this week, Hall told CNN that “Georgia law prohibits the Governor from interfering in elections,” but this hasn’t stopped from Trump making insane demands.
“The Secretary of State, who is an elected constitutional officer, has oversight over elections that cannot be overridden by executive order,” Hall said in a statement at the time. “As the Governor has said repeatedly, he will continue to follow the law and encourage the Secretary of State to take reasonable steps — including a sample audit of signatures — to restore trust and address serious issues that have been raised.”
Trump’s immaturity and bruised ego continue to keep him from doing what he should be doing, conceding! With the crucial Georgia run-offs around the corner, many—including some Republicans—are worried that Trump’s actions could cause a low voter turnout.
It still stands, Biden has won the state of Georgia. We can only hope that Trump can make peace with this.
