Three sources told the Associated Press that a Trump aide has been banned from the Department of Justice after harassing staffers for sensitive information about election fraud, as well as other information to go back and tell the White House.
The aide has been identified as Heidi Stirrup, who is a friend to Trump’s adviser Stephen Miller. Evidently, Stirrup was placed at the DOJ a few months back to act as a liaison between the department and the White House. But her reasons for being at the DOJ became apparent. Within the past two weeks, the aide was told to leave the premises and not return, the sources alleged.
She is accused of pressuring staffers and demanding information in the ongoing investigations surrounding the election fraud claims. It’s possible Stirrup is helping Trump by acting as an inside source considering his persistent attempt to overturn the election results now that his baseless claims of massive voter fraud aren’t working.
One source claims Stirrup has gone as far as extending job offers to political friends for positions at some of the DOJ’s highest level, despite the fact that she hadn’t consulted any senior department officials or the White House counsel’s office. She has also attempted to get in between the hiring process for career staffers, which violates the government’s human resources policies.
On Thursday, the celebrity-in-chief appointed Stirrup to be on the visitors’ board to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Despite Trump pulling on the strings, Attorney General William Barr reported earlier this week that “we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”
Trump unsurprisingly responded by saying the DOJ “hasn’t looked very hard.”
“They should be looking at all of this fraud,” Trump said. “This is not civil. This is criminal stuff. This is very bad, criminal stuff.”
