The Trump administration is pressuring the IRS to revoke Harvard University’s tax-exempt status, citing the school’s alleged failure to respond adequately to antisemitic incidents on campus.
According to Fox News, sources within the Department of Justice confirmed that the administration believes Harvard has violated standards required to maintain its nonprofit 501(c)(3) designation. The IRS is currently reviewing the case, and a decision could be announced soon.
Donald Trump recently reignited criticism of the Ivy League institution, posting on social media that Harvard had “lost its way” and no longer deserved federal support. The push to remove the university’s tax-exempt status adds to growing political and public scrutiny of how elite colleges handle reports of antisemitism.
