The National Museum of American History has removed direct references to Donald Trump from its impeachment exhibit following pressure from the Trump-aligned White House, according to reports from The Washington Post.
The exhibit, located in Washington D.C., originally included a temporary label detailing Trump’s two impeachments. That label was quietly taken down in July 2025, with museum officials saying the exhibit will be “updated in the future to include all impeachments.”
The change comes months after Trump signed an executive order demanding that “improper, divisive or anti-American ideology” be removed from the Smithsonian. Though the institution is federally funded, it’s meant to operate independently of government influence.
Trump’s executive order raised concerns about political interference, especially as it followed attempts to push out an art museum director.
