Donald Trump made it clear that he has no intention of deporting Prince Harry, who currently resides in Montecito, California, with his wife, Meghan Markle.
“I don’t want to do that,” Trump said in an interview with the New York Post. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Trump has been vocal about his disapproval of Harry in the past. In February 2023, he accused President Joe Biden’s administration of “protecting Harry” and stated he would not do the same if reelected.
“He betrayed the queen. That’s unforgivable,” Trump told the Daily Express, adding that Harry “would be on his own,” suggesting that Harry would face deportation under his administration.
During his New York Post interview, Trump also commented on the dynamics of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship.
“Poor Harry,” he said. “He’s whipped.”
Trump has previously criticized the couple’s security arrangements in the U.S. In a 2023 interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, he stated, “I didn’t like the idea that they [Harry and Markle] were getting U.S. security when they came over here.”
Trump also praised Harry’s older brother, Prince William, calling him a “great young man.”
Meanwhile, conservative organization The Heritage Foundation has questioned the Department of Homeland Security about Harry’s visa status, citing his admission of past drug use.
A judge is reportedly still reviewing the case.
