U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are expected to send between 100 and 200 officers to carry out the operation.

This aggressive move marks a key action in Trump’s campaign to tackle illegal immigration, a central promise during his run for a second term in office. The operation in Chicago will set the tone for what is expected to be a more forceful stance on enforcement.  The Republican president has long vowed to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. Additionally, Trump’s commitment to end birthright citizenship could also be carried out in the days to come after the deportation efforts.
