Trump Says “Nobody Has Done More For Black Americans Than I Have” When Asked About Rep. John Lewis

Donald Trump made several bizarre statements in his latest sit-down interview.

In a recent face-to-face interview with Axios reporter Jonathan Swan, Trump said, “Nobody has done more for Black Americans than I have” while discussing the late Congressman John Lewis.

Lewis, a black civil-rights leader, died last month at 80 years old, and as he was set to be laid to rest, Trump refused to pay respects.

When asked how history would remember Lewis, Trump replied, “I don’t know. I really don’t know. He chose not to come to my inauguration. I never met John Lewis; I don’t believe.”

Swan then asked if Trump found Lewis “impressive,” to which he claimed he couldn’t “say one way or the other” whether Lewis was impressive, but again said that Lewis, a Democrat, didn’t go to his inauguration.

“I find a lot of people impressive,” Trump said. “I find many people not impressive, but no, he didn’t come to my inauguration.”

“He didn’t come to my State of the Union speeches, and that’s okay,” Trump said. “That’s his right. And again, nobody has done more for Black Americans than I have. He should’ve come. I think he made a big mistake.”

Trump didn’t elaborate on how he has supposedly done the most for Black Americans.

Elsewhere in the interview, Trump also doubled down on his well wishes to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell, as she’s currently behind bars for suspected child sex trafficking.

“Yeah, I wish her well. I’d wish you well. I wish a lot of people well. Her friend or boyfriend was either killed or committed suicide in jail,” he said.

“I mean, she’s an alleged child sex trafficker,” Swan reminded Trump.

As the interview continued, When talking about the 150,000 coronavirus deaths in the U.S., Trump said, “It is what it is.”

“They are dying. That’s true. It is what it is. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing everything we can. It’s under control as much as you can control it. This is a horrible plague that beset us,” he said.

However, he also said that he’s done a “great job” at controlling the coronavirus.
