I happen to know a few people, including those who are married, that aren’t quite looking forward to Cupid’s arrow this Valentine’s Day. For different reasons, people want to pretend as if February 14th never happened. Whether you’re single, or unhappily taken, here are some ways that you can make Valentine’s Day work for you.
Don’t Be Afraid To Treat Yourself: People tend to think that showing yourself love is a weak thing to do on Valentine’s Day. If you won’t love yourself on February 14th, you probably didn’t love yourself on February 13th. Feel free to take yourself out on a spa day, see a movie or even rent a movie and stay home. Spend time showing yourself as much love as possible. You’re worth it.
Try Something New: For example, speed dating. I’ve never tried it, but it seems like a lot of fun. Rather than sit at home depressed because you’re single, consider trying to change your relationship status today. Speed Dating seems like something cool to do. Lots of bars and clubs will be having similar singles events. Taking a chance to find love today could solidify your relationship status for the next Valentine’s Day.
Being Single Doesn’t Mean You’re Lonely: So you should stop thinking that being single is a bad thing. I know plenty of married individuals that are just as depressed as people think singles are. Don’t think of being single as being lonely, think of it as you are still searching for Mr. Right. Some of our searches take a little bit longer than others but in the end it’s all worth it when you find the right guy.
Rekindle An Old Flame: Valentine’s Day is all about love. Are you missing someone from your past? Maybe you should let them know how you feel. Even if they don’t reciprocate those feelings you can at least say you told them. You never know, they just may feel the same way!
So before you go off saying “Bahumbug” to Valentine’s Day, consider finding new ways to enjoy it.
