Tubi’s New ChatGPT App Turns Your Prompts Into Movie Picks Based on Your Mood

Tubi is stepping directly into the AI conversation, rolling out a new way for viewers to find something to watch without ever leaving ChatGPT.

The Fox-owned streaming platform announced the launch of its native app inside ChatGPT, positioning itself as the first major streamer to build a fully integrated experience within the AI tool. The move centers on solving a growing problem across the industry: too much content, not enough easy discovery.

Users can install the Tubi app through the ChatGPT app store and activate it by typing “@Tubi” into a prompt. From there, recommendations become conversational. Requests like “a thriller for girls’ night” or “something funny” generate instant, personalized suggestions pulled from Tubi’s catalog of more than 300,000 movies and TV episodes, all linked directly to the platform.

While competitors such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have focused on refining recommendation engines within their own ecosystems, Tubi is shifting the experience outward. Instead of waiting for users to open the app, it meets them where they are already searching.

This approach reflects broader changes in how audiences engage with content. As streaming options multiply, platforms are experimenting with new ways to capture attention, including features inspired by social media behavior and conversational interfaces.

Tubi has explored AI before. In 2023, it introduced “Rabbit AI,” a ChatGPT-powered feature inside its mobile app designed to answer user queries with tailored suggestions. That tool was discontinued a year later, signaling that the company was still refining its approach.

Now, the strategy looks more direct. ChatGPT reported 900 million weekly active users as of February, while Tubi has surpassed 100 million monthly users, making the integration a calculated alignment of scale and behavior.

Alongside the launch, Tubi is also investing in original content through its “Creatorverse Incubator,” aimed at funding and promoting emerging creators with exclusive releases on the platform.
