On Saturday, headlines went crazy after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. As details surrounding the incident unfolded, social media platforms lit up with individuals reacting to the shooting and sharing their opinions on the matter.

The shooting, which occurred right before the Republican National Convention, resulted in the death of one spectator and major injuries to two others. According to multiple videos, Trump was speaking to the crowd when gunshots went off. Trump then grabbed his ear and dropped to the ground. Agents quickly surrounded Trump to rush him off the stage. However, before he was removed from the stage, Trump took a moment to showcase his resilience, giving a fist pump to the crowd with blood running down his face.

The Secret Service stated that the shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue.” They confirmed that agents “neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased.” The gunman, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was armed with an AR-style rifle and fired no more than eight rounds from a rooftop located 200-300 yards away.

A spokesperson for Trump released a statement saying that the former president is “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.” He was later released under the protection of the Secret Service.
