Lil Nas X has been stirring up controversy lately, between the release of his video for “Montero (Call Me By My Name)” and the upcoming release of his “Satan Shoes.”
The collab with MSCHF features a classic Air Max ’97 sneaker that contains 60 CCs red ink and one drop of human blood in the air bubble. They are limited to just 666 pairs and are individually numbered. The kicks will retail for $1,018 and are set to drop on March 29.
The shoe also features “Luke 10:18” written in red on the side. The Bible passage it’s referring to states, “And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” The show also has a pentagram hanging from the shoelaces. “MSCHF” and “Lil Nas X” are emblazoned in red on the sneaker’s heel.
The shoes are so controversial, Nike made it clear that they are not involved in the collaboration in an email statement to Snopes.
Twitter caught wind of the sneakers, and they quickly became a trending topic. Everyone weighed in, from the Church Of Satan to The Kid Mero.
Check out some reactions below.
