Austin Rivers has arguably one of the best High School mixtapes that we have ever seen. Coming out of school in 2011, he was the top point guard in the country and top three in his class. He was recently featured on an NBA Today segment, where he mentioned that he does not want to see Bronny James play with LeBron.
Rivers being the son of former player and Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Doc Rivers his opinion is valid, and it made sense.
“I don’t want to see Bronny play with his dad. I went through something similar… what happens is that everyone starts to discredit everything that you’ve done… I don’t want that negativity to come his way, he doesn’t deserve it,” Rivers said. “Right now his numbers don’t scream pro, so if he is to go in the draft, or if he’s picked up by a contending team that can help him, put him in a situation, because he has talent, he has basketball IQ, he has potential..”
A valid point and NBA casuals have short-term memory. Rivers came out of High School as one of the top-ranked players out of Florida, playing his College Ball at Duke. Former NBA Player Stephen Jackson did not take part in actually comprehending what Rivers said, rather just reacting.
“And your daddy, not LeBron. Shut up. Difference is your trash, Bronny not,” Jackson said. “You can’t compare to him.”
I don’t see where Jackson thought that Rivers’s comments were malicious but he has not been a fan of Rivers on his podcast All The Smoke.

Rivers did not comment specifically to Jackson, but he did thank others for fighting his battle for him.
