Two Capitol Police officers have been suspended, and another member of law enforcement has been arrested for their behavior at the Capitol riots, said Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio).
One of the officers suspended had been seen photographed taking selfies with one of the rioters. The other officer was suspended for wearing a “Make America Great Again” and started directing riot participants around.
Ryan did not have any details about the law enforcement official that was arrested. He was unsure if it was a police officer or a member of the National Guard and was unsure of the reason for the arrest. Ryan told reporters on Monday that he would have more details later.
He added that about 10 to 15 Capitol Police officers were under investigation for their roles during the insurrection.
“The Capitol Police are looking at everybody involved that potentially facilitated, on a big level or small level in any way, and it’s important that they’re cracking down on that,” he said.
According to The Hill, Ryan chairs the funding committee that oversees the Capitol Police.
Ryan says he is going to get more information on the arrest. Clarifies he's unsure if it was a USCP officer or a Guardsman and the reason for the arrest.
