Two Fox News commentators have reportedly resigned over the network’s “irresponsible” voices, including Tucker Carlson‘s.
Fox News broadcasters Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes, are stepping away from Fox News over the platform’s promotion of “irresponsible” reporting from certain Fox News personalities.
“Fox News still does real reporting, and there are still responsible conservatives providing valuable opinion and analysis,” the men wrote in their resignation announcement on Sunday.” But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible.”
The men wrote that Tucker Carlson’s “Patriot Purge” program, which allegedly glorifies the January 6 domestic terrorist attack, among other things, was the last of what they could take at the network. The film also claimed there is a “new war on terror” that is targeting Republicans.
“This is not happening. And we think it’s dangerous to pretend it is,” Goldberg and Hayes wrote. “If a person with such a platform shares such misinformation loud enough and long enough, there are Americans who will believe — and act upon — it.”
In response to their departure, Carlson said “over viewers will be grateful,” per a report from New York Times media columnist Ben Smith.
