A tragic scene unfolded outside the I29 Speedway in Pacific Junction, Iowa, on Saturday night, where a shooting claimed the lives of two men just before a concert featuring rapper Boosie was set to begin. The victims, identified as 28-year-old Marcus L. Johnson and 27-year-old Charles A. Williams Jr., both from Omaha, Nebraska, were fatally shot in the parking lot around 9 p.m., according to a release from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The outdoor concert, which was highly anticipated by fans, was abruptly canceled following the violent incident. Unbeknownst to Boosie, who was backstage waiting to perform, the shooting had occurred. The rapper later took to Instagram to address his fans, unaware of the tragedy that had just transpired.
In the video, Boosie said, “Hey, they just shut the, uh, the concert down. I’ve been in the back a couple hours waiting to perform. They just shut the concert down. I don’t know. Some shit happened at the front, but we finna take it to Crush Outro Lounge. The party don’t stop. Guess they gonna have to book me again in Omaha, but we finna… We finna take it to Crush, man. Fish out the party. We finna take it to Crush.”
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is actively looking into the shooting, and details are still emerging as authorities work to piece together what led to the fatal encounter.
