Two NYPD Officers Shot In The Bronx Within 12 Hours, Suspect In Custody

Two NYPD officers were shot within 12 hours in the Bronx after a suspect went on a rampage.

A Lieutenant was wounded Sunday morning, 12 hours after the suspect had ambushed two officers, injuring one-all from the same precinct.

According to NBC News,  law enforcement sources confirm a man was taken into custody around 8 a.m. Sunday, immediately following the latest shooting in the 41st precinct. The suspect reportedly walked into the 41st precinct headquarters, fired at officers, then placed his gun on the floor and surrendered.

This recent attack comes after a night of terror as the same suspect, identified as Robert Williams, allegedly approached two officers sitting inside a marked police van on Saturday night around 8:30 p.m., engaged them in conversation, then randomly pulled out a gun and fired at the officers.

Williams then stormed into the 41st Precinct station house on Longwood Avenue around 8 a.m. and opened fire, “He immediately pulls out a gun and fires multiple rounds towards the desk area,” said Shea in a press briefing. “He then walks into an area beside that desk and fires several rounds,” Commissioner Dermot Shea said.

Shea noted that Williams was previously convicted of attempted murder in 2002 — in an incident which also involved a shoot-out with cops.

In that incident, Williams shot a person, carjacked a passing motorist, crashed the vehicle, and then traded bullets with the NYPD before his apprehension.

According to Mayor Bill de Blasio, the lieutenant shot this morning was hit in the arm, and the officer who was shot last night was in stable condition as of 10 a.m.
