Two-year-old Stephen Meek II of Christiansburg, VA died two days after he was found unresponsive from what the child’s mother’s boyfriend said was an accidental fall. But forensic investigators discovered Stephen died from blunt force trauma to the head and now the child’s mother and her companion are charged with aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy, inanimate sexual penetration, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Christiansburg Police believe the boyfriend murdered little Stephen and that he’d been previously sexually abused by both the boyfriend and his mother in what Police Chief Mark Sisson described as a “horrific” case, during a recent press conference. The police chief stated there is another alleged child victim in the case who is not yet being named. “Children in this community are cherished. They are individuals without voices…it is our job to be their voice,” Sisson said.
McKenzie Kyle Hellman and Kayla Nicole Thomas were charged after police seized numerous electronic devices from their residence. Both suspects are being held without bond in the Western Virginia Regional Jail and are scheduled for Feb. 28 preliminary hearings in the county’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
