Ty Young isn’t hiding from the headlines—she’s owning her truth, especially when it comes to her relationship with beauty mogul Ming Lee.
At the Season 12 premiere of Basketball Wives, the former WNBA player stunned in a cream off-white look she called “godly,” and told Baller Alert that while the show may be full of drama, she’s walking her own path.
“I don’t know what they got going on in that trailer,” she said, laughing. “I’m not a part of that. I’m doing my own thing.”
But her relationship with Ming Lee is part of what fans will see this season. And Ty isn’t dodging accountability.
“I won’t say it made us stronger and I won’t blame reality TV for damaging it,” she said. “It takes two people to make it work. I believe in communication and working on something if that’s what you really want.”
So what keeps her and Ming circling back?
“The love,” Ty said. “We truly love each other. But we both have pride and we both have egos. Communication is key—and when it’s not there, things get hard.”
The emotional push-and-pull isn’t lost on her. Ty admitted she can be both expressive and guarded, especially when she feels unreciprocated vulnerability.
“I’m a Scorpio,” she said. “I can be savage or I can be emotional. If I let my guard down and you cross me, I’m going to feel it heavy.”
When asked who brings the most main character energy this season, Ty didn’t hesitate: “Jackie is that girl. When you think of Basketball Wives, you think of Jackie. She brings the mess, but she is the moment.”
Ty said she respects Jackie’s boldness in calling out what others won’t.
“I don’t mind it,” she said. “I’m real and I’m an open book. The times I tried to be private? It didn’t work. Now I know—if you’re on reality TV, people are going to be in your business. It is what it is.”
