Tyler Perry is bringing a new series that will highlight drama in the White House to BET.
“The Oval” is Perry’s next TV series, which will tell the story of a new first family entering the White House. #EdQuinn has been cast as President Hunter Franklin, while #KronMoore will play First Lady Victoria Franklin. The series will also feature Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson as the Franklins’ children, Variety reports.
“I’ve been hard at work on ‘The Oval’ and can’t wait to share this story with audiences,” Perry said. “I’ve set out to create a show that tells the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.”
This series was written, directed and executive produced by Perry. Michelle Sneed will act as executive producer of the series for Tyler Perry Studios. This is Perry’s first show under his new production deal with Viacom.
In addition, the 49-year-old is also running another drama series, two comedies and a live holiday special for BET. By the next year, Perry is expected to produce more than 75 hours of original content for BET.
