Zuri Craig, an America’s Got Talent contender and Tyler Perry collaborator, has died.
Craig’s family confirmed his passing Sunday by posting a tribute on his official ZoReMi Entertainment page, writing, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother, and friend, Zuri Craig.”
“We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy at this unimaginable time of mourning.”
The family said he passed on Friday and has not revealed his cause of death.
Craig appeared on ‘AGT’ in 2015, when he and his singing partner, Jeffrey Lewis, performed and wowed the judges and audience.
The two placed fifth on the show.
But before that, Craig was making a name in the industry. Tyler Perry noticed him and Lewis from YouTube covers they were doing as early as ’09. This landed the star a job on some of Tyler’s ‘Madea’ plays, TMZ reported.
Craig has starred in/worked on a few “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” “Madea Gets a Job,” and “A Madea Christmas.” The two also made an appearance on Oprah.
He was set to produce a live production in Atlanta, ‘Soul Food Live,’ starting in November.
Zuri was 44.
