Tyler Perry is being heroic once again. This time around he’s over his resources to a 93-year-old woman who is fighting a legal battle against an investment group.
Josephine Wright is fighting hard to keep the South Carolina home her family has owned since the Civil War era.
However, the Bailey Point Investment Group has filed a lawsuit to take over her Hilton Head home. The investment group reportedly wants to buy Wright’s land, but she doesn’t want to give it up.
The investment group has filed a lawsuit to seize control of her property, TMZ reported.
A move that doesn’t sit well with Perry. He responded to the news with an Instagram post, quoting Wright, ”’I’ve pretty much been a fighter all my life’ said 93-year-old Josephine Wright. Well, that makes two of us. Ms. Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight.”
It hasn’t been confirmed if the two have connected, but Wright spoke with her local news station, WSAV-TV, calling the lawsuit “frivolous.”
Wright told a reporter that the investment group got approval from the town to develop 29 acres of land behind her home and the company offered to buy her property. Wright rejected that offer. She says, BP started harassing her and then filed the lawsuit.
The property has been in her family since the Civil War began in 1861. She says that her relatives escaped slavery and were freed by the Union soldiers.
