Tyreek Hill has offered a grim update regarding his mansion, which was damaged in a fire.
The Miami Dolphins star revealed that what was once believed to be a fire contained to only one area of the home has sadly destroyed the entire property.
“It’s done. The house done, bro. Smoke damage, fire damage. The whole upstairs is burnt down. It’s alright, though,” he told his teammates during a recent episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks.
The home incurred over $2 million in damages inside and outside. Another roughly $1 million in goods was also destroyed. The massive flames broke out last Wednesday at Hill’s Southwest Ranches, Florida home. Officials concluded that the fire resulted from two children playing with a lighter. The little ones, one of which was just four, told firefighters they were playing with a lighter, which they “thought was a toy and accidentally lit a toy on fire.” They then got scared and threw the toy, which then spread the blaze.
Thankfully, everyone inside was able to exit safely, and no injuries were reported. Still, the emotional toll and financial toll is undoubtedly taking a toll on Hill and his family. Hill bought the seven-bedroom home for $6.9 million shortly after he was traded to the Dolphins by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.
At the time of the fire, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus spoke with reporters outside the burning home, who shared, “We’re very grateful to the firefighters that put the fire out.”
