Trinity Gay, the 15 year old daughter of U.S. Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay, was shot in the neck when two vehicles exchanged fire outside a restaurant in Lexington, KY. She was taken to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday, October 16, outside of the Cook Out restaurant located at 855 S. Broadway. Witnesses reported a shootout between a gray Dodge Charger and a dark-colored sports car. Trinity Gay was struck and then transported to UK Hospital in a private vehicle.
Police were able to located the Dodge Charger and arrested two persons of interest. Authorities are still working to locate the occupants of the other vehicle.
Trinity Gay attended Lafayette High School, where she was also an athlete like her father.
