Uber just launched new safety features, which include 911 texts and phone calls with live agents.
According to Uber’s lead project manager, Rebecca Payne, Uber has pushed out new features related to riders’ safety. ABC News reports the rollout will begin in about 60 percent of the country, including New York City and California.
“Text-to-911 is something that we started testing in 2019 in the counties that allowed for texting to their 911 call centers,” Payne said in her interview with ABC. “And so with this announcement, we are now expanding that to all of the counties that have this technology available now.”
