Ukrainian Woman Fatally Shot Delivering Bags Of Dog Food To Bucha Shelter

Ukrainian woman was shot and killed on her way home from delivering bags of dog food to a shelter in Bucha, just outside Kyiv.

The shelter that Anastasiia Yalanskaya delivered food to had gone without for three days. She posted a photo to her Instagram Story shortly before her death that showed her sitting in the back of a vehicle, next to bags of dog food.

The car Yalanskaya was riding in was found riddled with bullets near the home of one of the other men with whom she was volunteering. They had delivered the dog food and almost made it back home when all three volunteers were killed.

Her family believes Russian troops gunned her down at close range. Bucha has been aggressively targeted by the Russian military, suffering daily bombings.

“She was one of the best human beings I knew. She was committed to help, to help her friends and relatives and whoever needed help.” her husband, Yevhen Yalanskyi, said.

He added, “She loved animals. We had a dog and a cat. She was the best partner I ever had.”

A friend told Global News that Yalanskaya’s body remains in a morgue in Bucha due to the fighting. No one can get through.
