Universal Studios Hollywood announced a reopening date of April 16 after being closed since March of last year amid the coronavirus pandemic.Â
The park will begin selling tickets on April 8, following its Taste of Universal event. Deadline reports that attendance will be limited to California residents, and visiting groups cannot be larger than 10 people across a maximum of three households.
Passholders will be treated to an annual pass preview on Bonus Days starting April 5.
COVID-19 protocols include requiring guests to wear face masks, social distancing will be enforced, and there will be temperature checks at park entrances. The studio tour, rides, and shows will be operating at a limited capacity. The park will feature increased cleaning and disinfection of food areas, ride vehicles, and other high-touch surfaces and offer contactless payment options.
Some rides will remain closed as a result of government restrictions. Universal did not provide a public listing of which rides will be open and which rides will remain closed.
Universal’s announcement comes after Disneyland announced earlier this month that their Anaheim, California theme park will reopen on April 30.
