University of Alabama Sophomore Cornerback Geno Smith was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s office on Sunday morning. A day before this DUI incident, Smith posted a photo on his Instagram account in memory of DeAntre Truman who died this past Friday while playing football in his high school scrimmage game. Truman broke his neck after a tackle and was pronounced dead hours later.
Smith’s fellow teammate Wide Receiver Kenny Bell took to his twitter account to share some positivity on Smith’s DUI charge and arrest. A minor setback is not a DUI charge, but we will let the upperclassman give Smith some hope. One wonders if the DUI charge is a direct result of Smith’s reaction to DeAntre Truman’s death. These young men definitely need some support during these difficult times.
